Lyrics
Fluorescent lights engage

Blackbirds frying on a wire

Same birds that followed me to school

When I was young

Were they trying to tell me something?

Were they telling me to run?

The hammer clicks in place

The world's gonna pay

Right down in the face of God and his saints

Claim your soul's not for sale

I'm a dying breed who still believes

Haunted by American dreams

Haunted by American dreams

Whee! Thank you so much for this. I love how you wove the different themes together: the fear and anxiety and paranoia, the chance that it's a psychological disorder, the economic fears (shot of the gas prices, awesome), all cut together like what the inside of poor Curtis' brain probably looks like. Super creepy and great.

Recced at my LJ, btw.

New favorite moments: the dog pulling free of the leash with the guitar strum, and Jessica Chastain's head turning slowly, so deliciously creepy, at ~1:46.

Very cool! I haven't seen the movie so I'm sure a good portion of the narrative went over my head but the central conflict regarding whether this is all real or in the guy's head came through.

I absolutely adore this vid. The song works so well with the source, building the fear and anxiety of the narrative perfectly. Such a great, moody piece. The ending really pays off, too. Awesome job!
