This is so GORGEOUS. I love how you use the music, how there's the hard beat of the words and the softer piano underneath, and I especially love the way you use fades to go with the music. This is just CANDY for my eyes--I can't wait to download it and watch it bigger!

Absolutely gorgeous and more than a little heartbreaking. I, too, will be downloading this as a keeper as soon as we're able.

Wow, this is amazing!

I love the way you move between the violence and the love/care/family. The music seems incredibly hard to vid, but it works perfectly here, having the same internal contradiction, rough and violent against the feelings and emotions. Brilliant!!!!

Wow, this is everything I love about the show distilled into one awesomely edited package. Very cool, fascinating, and complex vid.
Jan. 15th, 2010 02:41 am (UTC)
Fantastic! So atmospheric and the switching of POVs really works. Tour de force!
Jan. 15th, 2010 02:46 am (UTC)
Wow, this is beautifully done and disturbing. I haven't seen the show, but it's no less powerful and effective for me.
Jan. 15th, 2010 03:00 am (UTC)
This is stunning. I mean, it's incredibly pretty and painful and I love the song choice- the mix of that wistful whatever it is (piano? don't even know) and the rap just captures the show perfectly.
Jan. 15th, 2010 05:22 am (UTC)
An absolutely perfect distillation of the show. I'm left speechless by the deft handling of the music and the themes. Fantastic vid for a show I'd forgotten I loved so much.
Jan. 15th, 2010 05:33 am (UTC)
This vid is remarkable. BRAVO.
Jan. 15th, 2010 05:56 am (UTC)
I never watched a lot of Dark Angel so I know only the broad brushstrokes of the story but this is no less effective for it. I suspect if I knew all of canon I'd be feeling pretty cut up right now. As it is, I'm kind of in awe at how well the music works and how well this is edited.
Jan. 15th, 2010 06:07 am (UTC)
Wow.....such a powerful video with a powerful song. This seems like it'd be a hard song to vid, too. Amazing amazing amazing!!!
Jan. 15th, 2010 07:17 am (UTC)
I really liked this. It's been too long since I've watched my DA but I felt that you captured something so right for the show and it's rather mesmerising to watch. Lovely work! :D
Jan. 15th, 2010 07:24 am (UTC)
Oh wow. This is so *good* and scary and you've made me like Dark Angel more (which I didn't even know was possible). Seriously heady stuff. Whew.
Jan. 15th, 2010 11:17 am (UTC)
Really, REALLY enjoyed this...you've captured the darker elements of the show so wonderfully here. Incredibly moving stuff. And the song choice is just brilliant.
Jan. 15th, 2010 02:38 pm (UTC)
Wow, that's amazing. It's going to take me a few more watchings to really get it, I think - very cleverly done. Wonderful stuff. :)

I can't even express how much I absolutely LOVE this. This song is so amazing and perfect. I swear, the first time I watched this I had tears in my eyes because I was so happy.

I simply adore how perfect this vid is for the show. And the quiet moments are somehow the ones that hit hardest (1:12 "All the nothing I go", 2:24 "Shhh" (that gave me goosebumps!) 2:56 "Smile and choke on yourself")

My other favorite bits out of the whole amazing thing.

0:05 The transition from the grill in the eye to the grill in their corridor, an internal prison.
1:05 The transition from Logan typing to Alec playing the piano actually made me scream out loud. It's so fucking awesome.
1:33 "Here's some shut the fuck up"
1:38 The picture of Joshua with the picture of White's family. Who's the real monster?
2:00 Love the use of the shadows
3:10 The cut between Logan rising up and him pushing her off is really shows the whole pull/shove in their relationship.

The ending is just amazing, with everyone trying to run away and still being caught, prisoner of what they are or pretend to be.

I love this vid. This is what the show is about for me-- the fear and the rage and the living on the edges. The song fits it perfectly. Well done.
Jan. 15th, 2010 07:55 pm (UTC)
Oh, I love this. I adore the fun and joy of Dark Angel, but I've never seen anyone capture the pain and anger and fear this way. Fantastic.
Jan. 15th, 2010 08:10 pm (UTC)
Oooh, nice vid! Very haunting. Awesome! I hope you'll eventually give us a download link!
Jan. 15th, 2010 11:23 pm (UTC)
That was absolutely brilliant. What a magnificent DA vid! I love the perspective of someone wanting to be accepted and knowing they're fringe. The show had a hard time doing that and focusing on our heroes being our heroes at the same time, but it was one of my favorite aspects of the mythos.
Jan. 16th, 2010 12:46 am (UTC)
I remember watching DA when it first aired, so I had a casual familiarity with the series but it has been a while. This vid captures so beautifully some of the elements of the show that made it stand out for me. Bravo! The music choice was superb and the clip selection was captivating.
Jan. 16th, 2010 02:08 am (UTC)
Ooh. I like how the sweetness and darkness of the music underscore what's going on in the story, all the horrible things people are doing to each other trying to be tempered with love and support and rescue.

On a pimping level - whoa, look at all those guest stars! I don't think I would have recognized most of them when this show was actually on.

Awesome song, too - am going to go find it somewhere.
Jan. 16th, 2010 10:36 am (UTC)
Wow, the song with the hauntiing soft piano and the hard vocals fit perfectly! I love how you bring out the darker side of DA, very amazing and creepy!
Jan. 16th, 2010 07:44 pm (UTC)
Good lord, that kind of took my breath away. I never watched the show and always thought it was supposed to be silly fun. Clearly I missed something.
Jan. 16th, 2010 09:56 pm (UTC)
wow, this is absolutely gorgeous!
i have no idea what the show is about, but i really loved this - the pacing, the music, the detail.
Jan. 17th, 2010 12:26 am (UTC)
Great to see another DA vid out here. I particularly liked the different contrasts set up throughout, such as White's family portrait and Joshua's tabloid cover.
Jan. 17th, 2010 02:57 am (UTC)
Woah. I need to watch this about five more times, right now, because it's so fantastically dense - that *really* found all the sharp edges in canon.
Jan. 18th, 2010 07:12 pm (UTC)
Wow. *rewatches a few times* This is a terrific vid. I especially like the virus juxtaposition with the protests/beatings. The bits with X5s and kids really stuck out for me as well. Awesome work!
Jan. 19th, 2010 03:29 am (UTC)
I love the way you move the clips around gently to dance with the soft keyboard melody line.
Jan. 20th, 2010 07:16 am (UTC)
Verrrrrry cool!
Jan. 22nd, 2010 08:12 pm (UTC)
Oh wow, that seemed so dark and complex and filled with so much pain. I've only seen a few Dark Angel episodes, but this makes me want to see more to really understand what you did here. Gorgeous editing though, with all the back and forth between strong and weak, triumph and despair.
Jan. 23rd, 2010 10:06 pm (UTC)
this is an amazing vid
Jan. 23rd, 2010 11:39 pm (UTC)
I like the epic ambition of this, the attempt to cover all the transgenics and freaks and the powerful. Favorite bits are the mirrored eyes and running at end and beginning, and Ames approaching Annie (? the blind girl played by Dualla?) on "Shhhhhh."
Jan. 29th, 2010 12:46 pm (UTC)
Very lovely!
Jan. 30th, 2010 04:49 pm (UTC)
Fantastic! I love this so much.
Jan. 31st, 2010 10:14 pm (UTC)
Amazing song choice and you used it so well! Gorgeously done. :)
Mar. 29th, 2010 04:09 am (UTC)
This song works so well for the show! Your vid is very powerful. I like it a lot. The show was really uneven, and watching this makes me feel like you told this part of the story much better than they managed to. Great job.
