Wow! I never really thought about Mason this way; it's a really dramatic take on the character.

This is a really interesting look at Mason -- definitely the most intense Mason vid I've ever seen. At first I kept mentally reinserting the comedic aspects of his storylines/characterization, kind of on autopilot, and it was a bit jarring; as the vid went on, I realized, when you take away the comedic slant of the show and just look at what goes on with him and his history and everything, it really IS that intensely screwed up. Nicely done.

Oh, Mason. I love that you chose to focus on the less fun aspects of the show and, especially, Mason. Really wonderful vid!

OMG OMG OMG! THIS WAS BRILLIANT!

Wow. You know, while watching DLM, you always forget how angsty it can be because everything is glossed over with wit and silliness. But then you watch a vid like this and you're like "MASON!! *weeps openly*" because Holy Crap, he is a really, really f*cked up character. I love how you showed Mason being almost childishly excited about something (meeting his rock god hero, making out with a goth, the possibility of getting with Daisy), only for each one to be taken away because of WHAT (reaper) and WHO (f*ck up that can never change for the better, no matter how hard he actually wants to try) he is.

I thought some of your lyrical interpretations were simply beautiful as well.
"Extreme ways are back again / Extreme places I didn't know" (his hoodlum-y ways)
"Extreme places I had gone / But never seen any light" (the shutters closing on him! GUH!)
"I closed my eyes and closed myself / And closed my world and never opened / Up to anything" (In fact, the entire "Send in the Clown" scenes here were used perfectly. CB's expressions alone told the story wonderfully and you took perfect advantage of them by using them with these evocative lyrics.)
"I had to close down everything / I had to close down my mind" (the somber facial expression with glass of alcohol and a sad 'cheers' gesture - GUH AGAIN!)

Can I also say that the clip at 1:45 with the stacks of syrup was absolutely amazing and gut-wrenching!? ONE GUT-WRENCHING SECOND. Because in one second, you portrayed how desperately he'd like to help others (his outstretched hand, as if he believed he had some magic power to keep up the wobbly stack), but he can't because he can barely help himself.

And whatever effects you used with sooo pretty! It seems like it might have been a Final Cut thing, but I do wish I knew if those trick could be replicated with Vegas. :D

In short, this was a spectacular vid. Thank you so much for filling my wish!

I used to say that Mason is a mass of f*ck-up with a gooey nougat center, and this vid totally gets at that.
